This documentary series will look at veteran issues as a whole: why do some vets thrive and others struggle to survive? There is no simple answer, which is why we’re taking a closer look.
It’s not just PTSD, although that’s part of it. It’s not just impossible wait times at the VA, though that doesn’t help. It’s not just about what happens to military members while they’re serving, it’s what happens next.
To be successful in the military means thinking a specific way, following orders, living by a checklist. Everything is highly controlled for the duration of service members’ careers, and yet when it’s time to get out, the structure that has defined their lives disappears. Some veterans manage to cope, but many don’t. It’s time to ask the big questions. From motivation to mental health, from financials to relationships – how are we failing to support our veterans, and what can we do to change that?
